CUSTOM LISTING FOR MACKS, please do not buy unless you are them. Pirate glass macrame necklace, very old sea glass pendant threaded onto an adjustable length woven cotton cord with black pearl, tiger eye, amethyst, jade and small metal beads.
Pirate glass is seaglass which is many hundreds of years old and has slowly been worn into pleasingly smooth shapes by the sea. It appears black until you shine a bright light through it (the torch on a phone is best, as it is small and incredibly bright). It is hard to find as on the beach it looks like a pebble. It takes a while to learn to spot it, but once you get your eye in you can find two or three pieces in one trip, if you know the right spots to look! I collect my pirate glass along the south coast of the Isle of Wight. It is time consuming, but a real thrill every time I find a piece.
The piece of pirate glass on this necklace is one and a quarter inches long and quarter of an inch thick.
I have turned this piece of pirate glass into a macrame pendant, netting it in a similar way to an old glass fishing bouy, and threaded it with a collection of beads selected to really set it off.
