Large 'mermaids nipple' pirate glass necklace with jade and wood beads, old historic seaglass pendant, FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE
I was overjoyed when I found out that this particular shape of sea glass is called a ‘mermaids nipple’! They come from the centre of the base of a particular style of old hand blown glass bottle.
Large mermaid nipple handmade pirate glass macrame necklace with jade, wood and coconut shell beads. Threaded onto an adjustable length woven cotton cord.
The piece of pirate glass is a lovely strong green when you shine a light through it and is one and a quarter inches long. This is a particularly lovely, large ‘mermaids nipple’.
Pirate glass is seaglass which is many hundreds of years old and has slowly been worn into pleasingly smooth shapes by the sea. It appears black until you shine a bright light through it (the torch on a phone is best, as it is small and incredibly bright). It is hard to find as on the beach it looks like a pebble. It takes a while to learn to spot it, but once you get your eye in you can find two or three pieces in one trip, if you know the right spots to look! I collect my pirate glass along the south coast of the Isle of Wight. It is time consuming, but a real thrill every time I find a piece.
I have turned this piece of pirate glass into a macrame pendant and threaded it with a collection of beads selected to really set it off.
This necklace is one of a kind and you will always be sent the one in the current pictures. All items come with free shipping unless specifically stated otherwise and are usually shipped in one to three business days using Royal Mail.
Thank you for looking. Peace.
