Fully beaded handmade necklace with small, well worn ‘mermaids nipple’ sea glass pendant. With turquoise, fresh water pearls, wood and coconut shell beads. Threaded onto strong cord with a sturdy lobster clasp. The glass is a very bright green when you shine a light through it (please see the second picture).
This short necklace is nineteen inches long and the piece of glass is seven eighths of an inch long. This is a small, well worn mermaids nipple, it has either got very worn by the sea, or came from a much smaller bottle.
‘Mermaids nipple’ is a nickname given to a particular shape of seaglass which comes from the base of old Victorian bottles.
