Pirate glass macrame necklace with blue tiger eye, wood and coconut shell beads. Threaded onto an adjustable length woven cotton cord.
The piece of pirate glass on this necklace is one inch long and is a dark greenish amber when you shine a light through it. Please see the second image for the glass with a bright light shining through it.
Pirate glass is sea glass which is many hundreds of years old and has slowly been worn into pleasingly smooth shapes by the sea. It usually appears black until you shine a bright light through it (the torch on a phone is best, as it is small and incredibly bright). It is hard stuff to find as on the beach it looks like a pebble. It takes a while to learn to spot it, but once you get your eye in you can find two or three pieces in one trip, if you know the right spots to look! I collect my pirate glass along the south coast of the Isle of Wight. It is time consuming, but a real thrill every time I find a piece.
