This fossil is a belemnite, an ancient cephalopod creature. They lived from the Triassic to the late Cretaceous period and were members of the same family as modern day squid.

I have turned this fossil into a macrame pendant on a tribal style necklace with black lava stone, carved and dyed bone and hematite beads. The fossil is just under one and a quarter inches long and the necklace is seventeen and a half inches long.

Handmade by me with great love and great care on the beautiful Isle of Wight.
