34 million year old fossil turtle shell macrame pendant, collected by me on the Isle of Wight. On fully beaded necklace threaded with ocean jasper, wood and tiny coconut shell beads and finished with a sturdy lobster clasp. This short necklace is just seventeen inches long and the small fossil is an inch long.
The coast of the Isle of Wight is very rich in fossils, with the north and the south of the island having very different geology and fossils from different periods. The south coast is Jurassic era rocks and fossils like ammonites and dinosaur bone, but the north is much younger rocks with creatures which are ancestors of our modern turtle, alligator and hippo and others.
All the items in this shop are handmade by me with great love and great care, mostly in my little studio on the Isle of Wight, a beautiful little island off the south coast of England (sometimes I sit and make them on the beach too). This item is one of a kind and you will always be be sent the one in the pictures.
